Saskatoon Forklift Training Programs

Saskatoon Forklift Training Programs - If you are looking for a job as an operator of a forklift, our regulatory-compliant lift truck training programs provide excellent instruction in numerous styles and types of lift trucks, classes on pre-shift check, fuel kinds and handling of fuels, and safe use of a forklift. Practical, hands-on training assists those participating in obtaining basic operational skills. Course content covers current rules governing the utilization of forklifts. Our proven forklift courses are intended to offer training on these kinds of trucks: powered pallet truck, narrow isle forklift and counterbalanced forklift.

How to Safely Handle Loads

Do not lower or raise the fork when the lift truck is traveling. A load must not extend over the backrest due to the danger of the load sliding back toward the operator. Check for overhead obstacles and ensure there is adequate clearance before raising a load. Stay away from overhead power lines. Once the load is raised straight up, tilt it slightly back.

The lift truck is less steady if a load is in a raised position. Make sure that no body ever walks under the elevated fork. The operator must not leave the forklift while the load is raised.

When handling pallets, forks should be high and level enough to go into the pallet and extend all the way beneath the load. The fork's width should provide equal distribution of weight.

Prior to unloading or loading the truck, chock the wheels and set the brakes. Floors should be strong enough to support the weight of the load and the forklift combined. Fixed jacks can be installed in order to support a semi-trailer that is not attached to a tractor. The height of the entrance door should clear the forklift height by a minimum of 5 cm. Mark edges of docks, rail cars or ramps and avoid them.

Do not stay inside a lift truck for long periods without proper ventilation. The inside of the truck must be properly lighted and free of loose objects, obstructions and trash. Check for holes in the floor. The installation of material that are non-slip on the floor will help prevent slipping. Clear whichever obstructions from docks and dockplates and ensure surfaces are not wet or oily.

Lift trucks must not be used to push or tow other forklifts.
